My goal is to help people become their best owner, trainer and competitor possible. From personal experience I understand the challenges with training and competing. Specialty classes include working on the 3 Ds (distance, duration, and distractions), taking it on the road to be prepared for competition, and private lessons to help get past individual issues generally not covered in the class setting.

Learn how to train your dog (or cat, rabbit, horse, etc…). We will explore different ways to get behavior using positive training. My goal is not just to teach you to teach your animal specific skills, but to teach you how to use your new training skills to teach anything!

Methodology
There are many ways to get behavior and ensure it is reliable. Research has shown that Positive Reinforcement (R+) is the most effective method for learning. R+ means we provide something that our learner wants and for which the learner is willing to work. A reinforcer can be food, toys, play, whatever the learner wants. R+ is not about being happy and gentle and free feeding goodies.
People often mistakenly assume that any training system that uses treats, uses those treats to lure or bribe the learner. In Positive Reinforcement Training food is paired with a marker which signals the learner is correct and food, or something else the learner wants, is available to the learner. The food is reinforcement for doing something correctly.
You’ll understand why a salary, which is not a reinforcer, isn’t the best way to get great work!
