This class is just what it sounds like, Field Trips!
You know your dog will work in your regular training area. But do you know how they will be in an unfamiliar area? What about around strangers? Other animals? I get performance anxiety and it overflows right down to my dog! To help them deal with it I must ensure they can work under pretty much any conditions. Then they should not be phased by my personal issues.
It is important to prepare our competition partners for everything. To do that you need to teach them how to work under many conditions. The more experiences they have and learn to work under, the better prepared they will be for the actual performance.
During these classes we will work on:
*observing our dogs so we know how they are feeling and when they are ready to work;
*teaching our dogs when it is time to start work;
*teaching our dogs what it looks like to be in competition;
*teaching our dogs how to get ready and focus;
*working around a variety of distractions;
*increase how long and how far our dogs can work;
And more….
Each week we will work in a different location. Some will be outside, some will be inside stores or other facilities.
This class is suitable for all dogs heading into any competition, be it conformation, agility, obedience, rally or other. At a minimum they must be leash trained for at least Loose Leash Walking.

Targets, and platforms, and mats, Oh my! Tricks aren’t just for kids or fun anymore. Trick training may seem like just something fun to do, but it does serve a purpose in modern training. Tricks are divided into six basic groups that help teach concepts to our dogs in a fun, no pressure way that won’t adversely impact your competition behaviors if you mess them up! Each group of tricks teach different concepts that can then be used to train many other behaviors. Through tricks we establish a positive relationship with our dogs as well as communication system. Trick training also offers a fun way to improve your mechanical training skills, such as timing and observation, as well as keep our dogs in mental and physical shape. You will learn how to use positive reinforcement to capture, shape and mark behaviors; use reinforcement strategies to improve performance; and use props to quickly teach and transfer behaviors.
This class is best for people who have some experience with training a dog, or another species, and want to learn more ways to get behavior. This class is appropriate for dogs of all levels.
